This Friday, May 12th, our academic HolographyCL, Dr. Francisco Rojas, will be giving a talk in the seminar series organized by the gravity group of the university; GravUC. Here we provide the title and the abstract:
Title: Aspects of Amplitudes in String Theory and Quantum Gravity
Abstract: In this talk, we will present some basic aspects of scattering amplitudes in string theory, such as their symmetries and properties that make the theory finite in the UV. We will also show how, based on the unitarity of the amplitudes, the theory predicts the dimension of the spacetime in which it should be defined. Finally, we will demonstrate why in quantum gravity (independent of the theory that describes it) scattering at very high energies is always “UV safe” thanks to the proliferation of black hole production at high energies.
The talk will take place at 16:00 hours in room AP003 on the campus San Joaquin de la Pontificia Universidad Catolica.
