SUMMARY:Lecture Series by Diego Correa: Integrability in Gauge Theories
DESCRIPTION:Outline \nIntegrable field theories have applications in various areas of physics\, such as high-energy physics\, condensed matter\, and mathematics. In this introductory 4-class course\, a general overview of the subject will be provided. We will begin with the notion of integrability in classical mechanical systems and field theories\, highlighting its relationship with the existence of conserved charges. Next\, we will explore the consequences of these conserved charges in quantum field theories\, emphasizing integrability’s constraints on the theory’s scattering matrix. We will also discuss integrability in spin chains and their solution through the Bethe Ansatz. Finally\, we will consider how these ideas apply to the study of scaling dimensions in conformal gauge theories in 4 dimensions. \n  \nResources \n \nReferences \n\nDorey\, Patrick. “Exact S-matrices.” Conformal Field Theories and Integrable Models: Lectures Held at the Eötvös Graduate Course\, Budapest\, Hungary\, 13–18 August 1996. SUMMARY:Marco Bianchi Universidad San Sebastián
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce an upcoming seminar featuring Marco Bianchi from Universidad San Sebastián. Marco has an impressive academic background\, having completed postdoctoral research at institutions such as Humboldt University of Berlin\, Queen Mary University of London\, and the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI). His work focuses on areas such as AdS-CFT Correspondence\, Extended Supersymmetry\, and Integrable Field Theories. \nThe event will take place at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez\, Sede Errázuriz. Here we leave you the details of the talk \nTitle:\nTwo holographic problems on which help is welcome. \nAbstract:\nIn this talk\, I will present two QFT observables that are theoretically open to a holographic description\, although a complete description has yet to be achieved. First\, the two-point functions of certain protected operators in N=4 SYM\, when computed using dimensional regularization at weak coupling\, exhibit uniform transcendentality. Notably\, the leading term in the regulator can be exactly determined to all orders in perturbation theory\, suggesting a potential for a holographic calculation at strong coupling. Second\, the expectation value of supersymmetric Wilson loops in the ABJM model can be exactly determined through supersymmetric localization\, providing an interpolation between weak and strong coupling. However\, this result includes imaginary contributions\, for which I will present recent progress in interpreting at weak coupling. The holographic interpretation of these contributions remains unresolved. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Laura Andrianopoli Politecnico di Torino
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to announce a new seminar by Laura Andrianopoli from Politecnico di Torino. Her research interests are mainly focused on Theoretical particle physics\, more specifically supergravity\, supersymmetry and quantum gravity. Dr. Laura also was awarded with Premio “Le Scienze” conferred by Rivista “Le Scienze” for the internationally recognized level of her researches in supergravity. \nThe event will take place in the Auditorio Ninoslav Bralic at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile\, here we leave you the details of the talk \nTitle:\nAdS3 supergravity with chiral torsion and its BPS states. \nAbstract:\nI will present some recent results on torsion deformations of 3-dimensional Einstein-Cartan gravity\, which behave as a chiral matter-source. They involve a peculiar interplay between the vector and the singlet irreducible components of the torsion which feature a formal analogy with the equation for a Beltrami fluid.\n“Beltrami-torsion” can describe a torsional deformation of the BTZ black hole which\, in some cases\, removes the causal singularity.\nI will also discuss the presence of Killing spinors in the deformed geometry\, and show the corresponding supersymmetric background obtained as a torsional deformation of N = 2 Achucarro-Townsend supergravity. \n

SUMMARY:Carlos Sopuerta Universitat de València
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On the dynamics of isolated black holes \nAbstract: There are two important physical processes around black holes that can be well described using relativistic perturbation theory: Scattering of electromagnetic and gravitational waves (and other fields) and quasinormal mode oscillations that take place\, for instance\, after the coalescence of a black hole binary. It is well-known that these physical processes\, at first perturbative order\, can be described in terms of gauge-invariant master functions. We have analyzed the space of all possible master functions for the case of non-rotating (Schwarzschild) black holes and we find two differentiated branches of solutions. One branch includes the known results: In the odd-parity case\, the most general master function is an arbitrary linear combination of the Regge-Wheeler and the Cunningham-Price-Moncrief master functions whereas in the even-parity case it is an arbitrary linear combination of the Zerilli master function and another master function that is new to our knowledge. The other branch is very different since it includes an infinite collection of potentials which in turn lead to an independent collection master of functions which depend on the potential. We also find that of all them are connected via Darboux transformations. These transformations preserve physical quantities like the quasinormal mode frequencies and the infinite hierarchy of Korteweg-de Vries conserved quantities\, revealing a new hidden symmetry in the description of the perturbations of Schwarzschild black holes: Darboux covariance. In this talk I will describe this hidden symmetry and how to apply it to the computation of scattering probabilities.\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]¿De verdad vivimos en un holograma?

SUMMARY:Carlos Hoyos Universidad de Oviedo
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Holographic Baryonic Matter without Flavor Branes \nAbstract: In holographic models flavor is usually realized by introducing additional branes in a dual supergravity background. With this realization one is forced to work in a probe approximation or solve supergravity equations with sources\, which typically requires introducing additional phenomenological simplifications. In addition\, since there are no fields carrying baryon charge on the branes\, baryonic matter is dual to solitonic configurations on the flavor branes\, which makes challenging to describe a state with non-zero baryon density. Here we will show how these issues can be avoided by considering a holographic model where baryon symmetry is already realized in the dual supergravity sector. We construct confining solutions with non-zero baryon density that do not involve solitonic configurations despite the absence of dual fields carrying baryon charge. The model is a three-dimensional field theory cousin of Klebanov-Strassler and shares with it some interesting features like a duality cascade.\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Axial Anomaly in Nonlinear Conformal Electrodynamics \nAbstract: In this talk\, we present the axial anomaly of Dirac spinors on gravitational instanton backgrounds in the context of nonlinear electrodynamics. In order to do so\, we consider Einstein gravity minimally coupled to a recently proposed conformal electrodynamics that enjoys duality transformation invariance. These symmetries allow us to generalize the Eguchi-Hanson configuration while preserving its geometry. We then compute the Dirac index of the nonlinearly charged Eguchi-Hanson and Taub-NUT configurations. We find that there is an excess of positive chiral Dirac fermions over the negative ones which triggers the anomaly.\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Javier Matulich Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]You can watch Javier’s talk here: \nhttps://holography.cl/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Javier-Matulich-Zoom.mp4\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Asymptotic Structure of Flat Spacetimes \nAbstract: One of the most impressive achievements of theoretical physics is the “principle of least action” of classical mechanics\, where a substantial number of phenomena can be described by just a single statement: the action must be stationary under arbitrary variations of the dynamical variables\, with initial and final condition that must be held fixed. Therefore\, the powerful formulation of classical and quantum mechanics based in the action\, needs to be supplemented with a proper treatment of boundary conditions at infinity. This issue is of vital importance in the case of theories where the sufficiently rapidly decay of the fields at infinity is not a valid assumption. For example\, the asymptotic symmetry analysis of General Relativity leads to the renowned BMS (Bondi-van der Burg-Metzner-Sachs) group\, which corresponds to a fundamental piece in the understanding of the infrared dynamics of gravitational interactions. In this talk\, the asymptotic structure of flat spacetimes will be discussed\, focusing on the case of gravity and its interactions\, starting in three spacetime dimensions and then discussing the higher dimensional case.\n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Journal Club
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In this week’s Journal Club\, we have \n  \n\nFelipe Díaz (UNAB): “Thermal Fluctuations and Holographic Charged\nRenyi entropy”\n\nAbstract: “Renyi entropies correspond to a one-parameter generalization\nof Von-Neumann entropy but with some advantages; they are easier to\nstudy\, both numerically and experimentally. In the AdS/CFT context\, they\nhave been also shown to provide great insights into the comprehension of\nthe entropy area law and in the black hole information problem. For a\nCFT with a global symmetry\, it is possible to extend the notion to the\nso called “charged Renyi entropy” by means of a conformal map that leads\nto a grand canonical partition function with a Wilson loop encircling\nthe entangling region. This quantity has been conjectured to be\nholographically dual to charged black holes. In this talk we extend this\nresult to include nonlinear sources and compute the thermal fluctuations\non the gravity side. These corrections lead to a new logarithmic\ndivergence in the entanglement entropy which usually appear in a field\ntheory with spontaneous breaking of a continuous symmetry.” \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Journal Club
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nThis week’s journal club: \n\n Anthonny Canazas (UNAB): “Una demostración con funciones signo y simetría conforme 1D”\n\nAbstract: The AdS2/CFT1 correspondence has recently drawn a lot of attention in our community. Understanding one-dimensional conformal symmetry is essential in such a scenario. This time we will discuss the expression Σ=sgn(τ1-τ2)+sgn(τ2-τ3)+sgn(τ3-τ4)+sgn(τ4-τ1) which arises in the context of calculating a 4-point function applying the GKPW prescription to a propagating scalar field in AdS2 with interpolating boundary conditions between Dirichlet and Neumann. The fact that Σ is conformally invariant and cannot be written as a function of the invariant u (cross ratio) challenges us to ask ourselves questions to reflect on. \n  \n\nRodrigo Olea (UNAB): “On minimal surfaces”\n\nAbstract: We explore the connection between the notion of minimality\nfor surfaces in manifolds with conical defects and what is usually computed from Variational Calculus. In addition\, in a holographic framework\, we renormalize the codimension-2 area functional for surfaces anchored to the conformal boundary. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Alejandra Castro University of Amsterdam
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nHolographyCL Seminar on April 20\n\n\nWe announce our first seminar\, to be held next April 20\, in which Prof. Alejandra Castro from the University of Amsterdam will present her talk entitled “Near AdS-2 Spectroscopy”. \n\n\n📖Abstract \n \n“In this talk\, I will describe holographic properties of near AdS2 spacetimes that arise within spherically symmetric configurations of N=2 4-D supergravity\, for both gauged and ungauged theories. These theories pose a rich space of AdS2 x S2 backgrounds\, and their responses in the near-AdS2 region are not universal. I will show that the spectrum of operator dual to the matter fields\, and their cubic interactions\, are sensitive to the properties of the background and the theory it is embedded in. The properties that have the most striking effect are whether the background is BPS or non-BPS\, and if the theory is gauged or ungauged. The resulting differences will have an imprint on the quantum nature of the microstates of near-extremal black holes\, reflecting that not all extremal black holes respond equally when kicked away from extremality.” \n\n\n📍Location \n\n\nAv.
